I’ve gathered some of the best digital art books for artists of all skill levels. I own many of these books and consider them highly valuable. For example, Sketching From The Imagination: Anime & Manga, The Art Of Loish: A Look Behind The Scenes By Lois Van Baarle, and The Art of Guweiz are some of my favorite art books from this list and ones I personally own.

The Art of Guweiz

The book features the work of digital artist Zheng Wei Gu, also known as Guweiz, who was inspired by an anime art tutorial on YouTube at the age of 17. The book takes readers on his artistic journey and includes behind-the-scenes details about some of his popular pieces.

It also includes step-by-step tutorials and tips for creating the surreal and gritty detail that is characteristic of Guweiz’s art. The book showcases Guweiz’s unique urban take on the popular manga/anime style with a surreal and gritty vibe.

I personally own this book and was pleasantly surprised by the number of tutorials and insights this book had on drawing digitally.

Digital Artist

I’m a digital artist who is passionate about anime and manga art. My true artist journey pretty much started with CTRL+Z. When I experienced that and the limitless color choices and the number of tools I could use with art software, I was sold. Drawing digital anime art is the thing that makes me happy among eating cheeseburgers in between veggie meals.
